About Us
Hearthstone & Harbor began as a simple idea: create a welcoming home for the helpers and the hopeful of the world, the weary hearts and the willing souls. It is for the beautifully unfinished among us. A place where people can slow their pace, steady their breath, and find a story or resource that feels like a hand on the shoulder.
Here you’ll find:
-
Books and personal reflection materials that speak to real life and real challenges
-
Stories and Dispatches from the front lines of human service work
-
Curriculum and courses, including The Compass Rose, are built to bring people back to center
-
The Patchwork Porch (coming soon), spiritual guidance shaped by the simple truth that many who recover, rebuild, and rise again do so by finding their way back to God.
-
Podcasts and videos that lift the heart and honor the quiet resilience of everyday people. It's our creative wing set in place for learning, healing, and rediscovery
Everything here is created with the same intention: to be a warm, steadying place in a hurried world.

About Jim Kerr
Some people spend their lives chasing applause. Jim Kerr has spent his walking the quieter roads, looking after folks who arrive tired, tangled, and unsure if they deserve another chance. For decades he worked in the far edges of the social-service world, the places where hope shows up late but still knocks anyway. He has walked through long prison corridors, echoing shelter hallways, rehab intake rooms, and tiny office corners where a person finally says out loud what hurts.
He carries the stories of those years the way a man might carry smooth river stones in his pocket, polished by time, by memory, and by the belief that every life, no matter how battered, holds a small bright spark that refuses to go out.
Jim writes the way he served. With gentleness. With humor that never bruises. With a steady, unshakable belief that people can become whole again. His work honors the folks he has helped, worked beside, and learned from. They are the quiet heroes at the center of every page he creates.

What Jim Offers
Whether on the page, behind a microphone, or through curriculum, Jim brings the same thing he’s always brought:
A warm place to sit for a moment.
A story that steadies the heart.
A gentle reminder that grace still knows how to find its way through crowded rooms and long nights.
If you need someone to help you catch your breath, Jim is your man. He has weathered enough storms to know where the clearings are, and he points toward them in a way that feels like good news.
